Cloud-Based Purchasing Collaborative Ensures Purchasing Not Blamed

Collaborative supply chain solutions must help purchasing and procurement professionals accelerate productivity and performance for manufacturing firms around the globe. In a co-creation customers, enhance solutions permit a 'Collaborative RFQ' (Request for Quote) module that incorporates innovative social media concepts, an 'Inventory Optimization Tool' that helps organizations to improve the operational and financial performance of supply chains, and a 'Collaborative Planning' module that combines historical consumption and replenishment data with forward-looking demand data to calculate future inventory positions.

The inability of current supply chain management systems to support true collaboration and execution between manufacturers and their supply chain partners results in supplier whiplashing, poor delivery performance, and lost revenue. Purchasing does not need to be blamed.

Narayan Laksham, Ultriva founder and CEO said, "Providing greater transparency and collaboration between manufacturers and supply chain partners, customers have experienced an average 35% increase in inventory velocity along with across-the-board improvements in employee productivity and supply chain decision making. We work closely with customers to deliver even greater value through ultra-responsive, demand-driven supply chains."

84% of Chief Procurement Officers Dissatisfied with Company Insight

Supply & Demand Chain Executive reported recently that s large majority (84%) of chief procurement officers (CPOs) are not satisfied with the level of insight their company data provides. These findings were reported in a new survey by Consero Group, an international provider of high-level, invitation-only events for senior executives. The results were reported as part of the July 2015 Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Data Survey.

A majority of procurement officers (53%) named, spend visibility, as the data metric proven most effective in supporting their operations. However, 69% of procurement executives reported that they believe metrics used to evaluate their function drive the wrong behavior within the organizations.

"Considering how numbers can drive strategy and performance, CPOs could be concerned by these findings," said Paul Mandell, founder and CEO of Consero. "Moving forward, CPOs may want to invest time in identifying ways to extract insight from their data, and communicate the key metrics that drive positive change and behavior."
Purchasing via Open-Loop Process:
Quantum of Lead Times and Trigger Points Generates Supply Shipments

Richard J. Maturi wrote a feature article for  Area Development magazine titled "The Confluence of Facility Planning and Supply Chain Strategy." Narayan Laksham, CEO and founder of supply chain software company, Ultriva, headquartered in Cupertino, CA, was interviewed and noted that, "Improving your inventory-turns metric can significantly cut costs, improve flexibility and improve cash flow. It can help cut down facility costs by reducing warehouse requirements by eliminating the need for higher inventory levels, and by moving strategic inventory to the shop floor instead of the warehouse. "Cloud-based supply-chain software creates an open-loop process with orders generated as supplies/components are scanned while introduced into the manufacturing process. A quantum of lead times and trigger points generate the supply shipments so that the manufacturer receives them when required. This eliminates unnecessary inventory and downtime due to inventory shortages." Ultimately these lean manufacturing elements impact purchasing and procurement who measure and evaluate on accuracy of inventory."
